THE QUICK ANSWER

Season 02 has four anti-air options: the carried 9K333 Verba, FOB-built Talon 9K-SAM and Vanguard CIWS, and the Flakpanzer Gepard vehicle. The official patch notes move the Verba unlock to Support level 14 and price the Gepard at $14,000 per purchase after Driver level 25 and a separate $300,000 unlock fee. The older community record prices the Verba at $800 per life. The Talon 9K-SAM launcher and the Vanguard CIWS gatling are both built inside a friendly FOB and fed from its Ammo Supplies. BULKHEAD made the CIWS kill a Havoc in about 6 seconds on 2 October, and the Gepard is available in Season 02. Pilots counter with $750 flares and by flying low.

Building AA at a FOB

Unverified

The Talon and the CIWS only exist inside a friendly FOB, are started with a Large Hammer, and reload from the FOB’s Ammo Supplies — an Ammo pallet’s 1,800 supplies is about 36 Talon missiles or 3,500 CIWS rounds. Guides warn that a SAM fired through a window frame or over a HESCO lip hits before it arms, and that a CIWS walled in below a ridge cannot elevate enough to be useful. The full placement walk-through is on the FOB page.

BULKHEAD made the CIWS deadly again

Publisher stated

In its 2 October hotfix BULKHEAD wrote: “The CIWS also now destroys the havoc in around 6 seconds as opposed to 12. We acknowledge we overcorrected this in the previous patch.” Season 02 went live on 15 October and adds a mobile answer: the Flakpanzer Gepard. The 14 October patch notes list it at Driver level 25, with a $300,000 progression unlock fee and a separate $14,000 vendor price. They also move the Verba from Support 16 to Support 14.

Why the Verba misses

Unverified

Infantry on the Steam board are blunt about the shoulder launcher. A 9 October thread titled “Verbas are pointless” lists the complaints: the smoke trail shows the pilot where it came from, the lock is slow and breaks easily, flares beat it and last a long time, and pilots “can just dip below radar”. A pilot in a parallel thread says the same from the other seat — with more than one long-range AA in the zone, the second missile arrives during the flare cooldown. Players’ consensus is that a launcher works alongside FOB AA, not instead of it.

The pilot’s side: flares and cost

Unverified

Flares cost $750 and give three bursts. Pilots argue the economics run against them: one player who spent a match only in attack helicopters says he lost $200,000, and that two AA gunners he killed were revived and back on their CIWS and Talon a minute later. Players on the ground say the opposite — that a Havoc can wipe a FOB before anyone reacts (6 October). Both are accounts, not measurements; BULKHEAD’s only number is the CIWS time above.

Common questions

How do you shoot down helicopters in WARDOGS?

With the carried 9K333 Verba, a Talon 9K-SAM or Vanguard CIWS built inside a friendly FOB, or the Season 02 Flakpanzer Gepard vehicle. The CIWS kills a Havoc in about 6 seconds, according to BULKHEAD.

How do you unlock the Verba in WARDOGS?

At Support level 14 in Season 02, according to BULKHEAD’s 14 October patch notes (previously level 16). The older community game-file record lists a $50,000 unlock fee and $800 per-life price; those prices have not been independently rechecked for Season 02.

Is there an anti-air vehicle in WARDOGS?

Yes. Season 02 added the Flakpanzer Gepard on 15 October. BULKHEAD lists Driver level 25, a separate $300,000 unlock fee and a $14,000 vendor price.

How long does the CIWS take to kill a Havoc?

About 6 seconds, down from 12, after BULKHEAD’s 2 October hotfix.

How do flares work in WARDOGS?

They are a $750 countermeasure that deploys three bursts. Players say flares easily defeat the Verba, but a second missile can hit during the flare cooldown.
