REVEAL

Three teams. A different kind of war.

The announcement, the numbers it produced, and the claims made at reveal that are still worth holding the launch build against.

THE QUICK ANSWER

Team17 announced WARDOGS with BULKHEAD on 5 February 2026. Within two weeks it had 200,000 Steam wishlists; by August it had a million. The reveal is worth reading because it is where the studio set the expectations it is now shipping against.

The announcement

Publisher stated

Team17 revealed its partnership with BULKHEAD and shared the WARDOGS announcement trailer on 5 February 2026. The framing was set immediately and has not moved since: a Tactical All-Out Warfare FPS in which 100 players split across three teams fight over one Control Zone, in the derelict industrial mountains of Eastern Europe, on a destructible battlefield where teamwork pays and cash is king.

What the trailer claimed

Publisher stated

BULKHEAD's own announcement lists what the footage was meant to demonstrate: grounded modern warfare with infantry, vehicles, base building and destruction; the teamplay-equals-cash reward system; and combat roles including close-quarters combat, sniping and spotting, medic, building, demolitions, transport, logistics and artillery. It also states that every clip was recorded in-game, with proximity chat, in the 100-player sandbox — a claim about the footage itself that is worth remembering when you compare it to the launch build.

The response, in the studio's own numbers

Publisher stated

Two weeks after reveal BULKHEAD reported over 200,000 Steam wishlists. By 26 May it announced 500,000. On 14 August it announced one million, six months after revealing the game. In August the game twice appeared on Steam's global top-seller list for the week while still unreleased. These are the studio's own figures and Valve's own chart, not a third party's estimate.

What the reveal did not answer

Publisher stated

BULKHEAD published a follow-up on 18 February titled “Top Questions”, because the reveal left the obvious ones open. That post is where the 256 km² map figure and the first-to-100-points rule were actually stated, and where the studio drew the line it has repeated since: this is not a battle royale and not an extraction shooter.

Why a reveal is worth revisiting

Unverified

Editorial view. A reveal is a promise made before there is anything to check it against, and the honest use of one is as a checklist for later. The claims above — recorded in-game, proximity chat, teamwork pays, destruction as a real system — are all testable once the build is live, and we intend to hold the launch build against them rather than quietly forget what was said in February.
