From vendor to music, in five stops
Tap a stop for what happens on that screen. The keys are PC defaults from Shacknews’ walkthrough; the switches underneath answer where the tape went, because a tape is an item that plays once, not a playlist.
Press B inside the vehicle
B on PC opens the vehicle’s Buy Ammo / Supplies screen. You buy the tape here, every match — not from the main vendor.
Reported · Shacknews, 16 Sep 2026It plays once
A cassette does not repeat. Open the F menu and choose Play Cassette Tape again.
Shacknews · 16 Sep 2026Five steps from the vendor to music
Shacknews’ walkthrough is the clearest account published, and the Steam answers players gave each other on launch day match it. The tape is bought inside the vehicle, every match — not from the main vendor.
- 01
Unlock a tape
Tapes sit on the class unlock paths, “like Driver and Pilot”. Reach the level, then pay to unlock it, the same way as a weapon or attachment.
- 02
Buy a vehicle
Any vehicle from the vehicle vendor except the quad bike, which Shacknews rules out.
- 03
Press B inside it
B on PC opens the vehicle’s Buy Ammo / Supplies screen.
- 04
Items → Tapes
Click the Items box under Ammo and Logistic, scroll the tabs to Tapes, buy the tape and confirm. It goes into the vehicle’s inventory.
- 05
Hold F on Play Cassette Tape
Press the interact key (F on PC), scroll down to Play Cassette Tape and hold F.
Where the tapes come from
One tape has an official level and price. BULKHEAD’s Season 1 changelog of 9 September 2026 moved Music Tape H from the Pilot path to the Driver path and halved its unlock price. Shacknews counts eight tapes at launch. BULKHEAD’s Season 02 patch notes of 14 October add two more with their levels and prices, and say the tapes were “reshuffled between the Driver and Pilot tracks” without listing where each launch tape moved.
| Tape | Unlock level | Unlock price | Source |
|---|---|---|---|
| Music Tape H | Driver 23 (was Pilot 28) | $2,500 (was $5,000) | Season 1 changelog, 9 Sep 2026 |
| The other seven | Not published | Not published | — |
| Dyshat’ - Baryber | Driver 33 | $25,000 | Season 02 patch notes, 14 Oct 2026 |
| Blue (Da Ba Dee) - Eiffel 65 · Lonestar only | WARDOG 29 | $25,000 | Season 02 patch notes, 14 Oct 2026 |
Which songs are on them
Dexerto’s WARDOGS wiki lists eight tapes by title. The same pages give every tape a 100 cash price and “Available from start”, which the official Music Tape H row contradicts, so this page prints the titles and not the prices. Which letter is which song has not been published. One title is backed up in players’ own words: a 17 September Steam post calls the pilots’ tape their “recognizable meme song”, the “helikopter helikopter” song.
- Giants (Remix) — The Quemists
- H4ZARD — Gigilow
- HORA — Irina Rimes & Jerry Heil
- Helikopter — Fazlija
- Luili-Luili — Masha Kondratenko
- Ride of the Valkyries — Richard Wagner
- Tianqi Xu — Vodka Bomb
- You Are Not Invited — MokuMoku
Season 02 added two tapes
BULKHEAD’s Season 02 patch notes, published 14 October 2026, are the first official list of tape titles. They add two, each with an unlock on a class path and a vendor price — the per-match price of a copy, bought from the vehicle’s supplies screen like the others.
- That makes ten tapes: the eight counted at launch plus these two.
- The same notes say the tapes were “reshuffled between the Driver and Pilot tracks”, but do not list each launch tape’s new level, so Music Tape H’s Driver 23 row above may no longer hold.
- “Lonestar only” is how the notes label the Eiffel 65 tape; they do not say what players on the other two teams see in its place.
| Tape | Who can unlock it | Unlock | Price per copy |
|---|---|---|---|
| Dyshat’ - Baryber | No restriction stated | Driver 33 · $25,000 | $100 |
| Blue (Da Ba Dee) - Eiffel 65 | Lonestar only | WARDOG 29 · $25,000 | $100 |
A tape is an item, not a playlist
Three things catch people out, and all three follow from the tape being a physical item like ammunition or bandages:
- It plays once. A cassette does not repeat — open the F menu and choose Play Cassette Tape again (Shacknews).
- It stays with the vehicle. Leave the vehicle, or lose it, and you buy the tape again (Shacknews).
- Since Season 02, only you and your squad can take it — by default. BULKHEAD’s 14 October patch notes make the inventories of purchased vehicles “private to the driver and their squad by default”, with a setting to open yours to everyone once the vehicle is fully unlocked; vehicles that spawn free for each team stay open to everyone. Before that, Shacknews said any player could take a tape from the vehicle inventory, and Season 1 threads on 17 September and 3 October complained of passengers taking or dropping gear mid-flight.
Too loud, or not playing at all
Two player reports, neither confirmed by BULKHEAD. On 3 October a player wrote that the FOB alarm and vehicle music “are on the same volume slider”, so turning one down turns down both; a 17 September reply gives the same advice the other way round — turn it to zero in settings if you do not want to hear it. And on launch day, the reply Steam marks as the answer to “Is music tape working?” is that it does not work in the firing range: test it in a match.
The radio station is a different thing
One 3 October Steam reply describes a buildable radio station with stations to choose from, the last of them “POST - PUNK”. That is a single player’s description, not a published feature; nothing official describes it and this site has not seen it.
What is not established
No source checked for this page — BULKHEAD’s included — publishes the following:
- The level and price of the eight launch tapes since the Season 02 reshuffle.
- Which song is on which lettered tape.
- The full list of vehicles that can play a tape, beyond Shacknews ruling out the quad bike.
- Whether passengers and nearby players hear the music, and how far it carries.
- The controller buttons for the supplies screen and Play Cassette Tape.
Common questions
How do you play music in a WARDOGS helicopter?
Sit in it, press B to open the Buy Ammo / Supplies screen, go to Items → Tapes and buy a tape you have unlocked, then press F, scroll to Play Cassette Tape and hold F. That is Shacknews’ 16 September 2026 walkthrough; BULKHEAD has not published one.
Where do you buy music tapes in WARDOGS?
Inside a vehicle, from its supplies screen (B on PC) under Items → Tapes — not from the main vendor. You unlock a tape first on a class path, then buy a copy each match.
How many music tapes are there in WARDOGS?
Ten since Season 02: eight at launch, according to Shacknews and Dexerto, and two the 14 October Season 02 patch notes add — Dyshat’ - Baryber (Driver 33) and Blue (Da Ba Dee) - Eiffel 65 (WARDOG 29, Lonestar only).
Why did my music stop?
A tape plays once and does not repeat; play it again from the F menu. If the tape is gone altogether, you left the vehicle or someone took it from the vehicle’s inventory.
What music tapes did Season 02 add?
Two. BULKHEAD’s 14 October Season 02 patch notes add “Dyshat’ - Baryber”, unlocked at Driver 33 for $25,000, and “Blue (Da Ba Dee) - Eiffel 65”, Lonestar only, unlocked at WARDOG 29 for $25,000. Each costs $100 per copy at the vendor.
Can other players take my music tape?
Since Season 02, only your squad can by default. The tape is a physical item in the vehicle’s inventory, and BULKHEAD’s 14 October patch notes make a purchased vehicle’s inventory private to the driver and their squad unless you open it to everyone in settings (possible once the vehicle is fully unlocked). Free team-spawn vehicles stay open to everyone, so a tape in one of those can still be taken.

The buy-and-play path is Shacknews’ 16 September 2026 walkthrough, read from the page’s raw HTML on 6 October; this site has not reproduced it in its own client. The official tape figures are Music Tape H’s level and price change in BULKHEAD’s Season 1 changelog and the two tapes the Season 02 patch notes add.
