There is no launch player count
WARDOGS enters Early Access on 10 September 2026. Until it does there is no player count for the game, and any site showing one today is showing you something else — usually a beta client, sometimes a wishlist total. This page will carry a launch figure when a launch figure exists.
The numbers you have seen are the same test on different days
162,488. 203,558. 245,118. These get quoted against each other as if somebody must be wrong, and none of them is: they are three readings of Closed Beta 02 as it climbed. Inven Global recorded a 162,488 daily peak on 3–4 September, with the client sitting third on all of Steam behind Counter-Strike 2 and Dota 2. By 4 September it had reached 203,558 and fourth place. On the evening of 5 September, at 17:38 UTC, SteamDB logged 245,118 — the peak, on the last full night of a test that closed at 08:00 UTC on the 6th. A live counter read at three moments gives three answers.

It was not WARDOGS being counted
The client Steam was tracking is “WARDOGS Playtest”, a standalone app separate from WARDOGS itself. That is not a technicality. It means the beta figures and the launch figure will come from two different Steam entries, so putting them on one chart compares two things that were never the same thing. It also explains why a reader who goes looking for the beta peak on the WARDOGS store page finds nothing there.
The one number BULKHEAD published itself
One million Steam wishlists, announced by the studio on 14 August 2026, six months after the reveal. It is the only audience figure that comes from BULKHEAD rather than from somebody reading a counter. A wishlist is an intention rather than a player, the studio makes no further claim from it, and neither does this page.
Two sites, 192 players apart
The Beta 02 peak is published elsewhere as 244,926 and here as 245,118. Both are presented as the peak; they differ by 192. This is what reading a live counter at two moments looks like, and it is worth knowing before you treat any of these figures as precise. When a number matters, the date and the minute it was read matter with it — which is why every figure above carries one.
What a beta peak does not tell you
A free test that anybody could join on its last night is not a paid launch. Tech Times quotes a studio planning target of 5,000 concurrent players, alongside expectations that activity will decline after the initial interest. Its daily-user wording elsewhere should not be treated as the same metric. That is the developer naming its own floor in writing before launch, which is more useful for setting expectations than any peak is.
Where the real number will come from
Steam publishes a concurrent-player figure for every app it sells, and WARDOGS will have one from the moment Early Access opens. That figure, on the WARDOGS store entry rather than the Playtest one, is the first thing on this page that will be about the shipped game. Until then the honest answer to how many people play WARDOGS is that nobody has played it yet.
Common questions
How many players does WARDOGS have?
None yet — Early Access opens 10 September 2026. Its second closed beta peaked at a reported 245,118 concurrent players on Steam on 5 September, on a separate test client.
What was the WARDOGS beta peak?
245,118 concurrent, logged by SteamDB at 17:38 UTC on 5 September 2026. The first beta in August peaked at 105,774.
Why do different sites give different beta numbers?
Because they read the counter on different days of a test that was still climbing. 162,488, 203,558 and 245,118 are all Closed Beta 02.
Has BULKHEAD published a player count?
No. It published one million Steam wishlists on 14 August 2026, and no concurrency figure of its own.
Where can I see the live count at launch?
Steam's own store entry for WARDOGS carries a concurrent figure for every app it sells. Note that the beta figures came from the separate WARDOGS Playtest app, so they are not a like-for-like comparison.
Sources & verification
Every concurrency figure on this page was read off Steam by somebody other than BULKHEAD or Valve. The studio has published a wishlist milestone and nothing else.

| BULKHEAD · “1 MILLION WISHLISTS ON STEAM”, 14 August 2026The only audience figure BULKHEAD has published itself. A wishlist is an intention, not a player — the studio states the number and claims nothing further from it, and neither does this site. | Publisher stated | 2026-09-09 |
| BULKHEAD · “THE CLOSED BETA IS NOW AN OPEN BETA!”, 6 September 2026Opens the last stretch of Closed Beta 02 to everyone and states the close: Sunday at 08:00 UTC. “Come break our servers” is the studio’s own framing of the test. | Publisher stated | 2026-09-09 |
| Inven Global · Byungho Kim, “‘WARDOGS’ 2nd CBT Hits 160,000 Concurrent Steam Players, Ranking 3rd Overall”, 3 September 2026Games press reading Steam’s own public statistics page, not a BULKHEAD statement. It is the source that establishes the tracked client is the standalone “WARDOGS Playtest” app rather than WARDOGS itself — the detail that makes every figure in this cluster non-comparable with a launch number. | Unverified | 2026-09-09 |
| Tech Times · Clayton Lewis, “Wardogs Beta Ends With 245K Players; Early Access Begins This Wednesday”, 6 September 2026Games press. The peak it reports (245,118) and the one other sites report (244,926) differ by 192 players, which is what reading a live counter at two different moments looks like. | Unverified | 2026-09-09 |
