The two editions
Steam lists WARDOGS at $39.99 and WARDOGS – Supporter Edition at $49.99, the latter described as two items: the base game plus the WARDOGS – Supporter Pack. The $10 difference buys cosmetics and nothing else. There is no gameplay content, no early access window and no progression advantage attached to it.
| Edition | Price | What it adds |
|---|---|---|
| WARDOGS | $39.99 | The game |
| WARDOGS – Supporter Edition | $49.99 | The game, plus the Supporter Pack — cosmetics only |
Exactly what is in the Supporter Pack
BULKHEAD lists the contents item by item rather than describing them vaguely, so there is no ambiguity about what $10 buys. Three weapon camos, a helicopter camo, a scoreboard icon that can be turned off, and two bobbleheads.
- Valkyra-branded A-91 rifle camo
- Lonestar-branded Bushmaster camo
- Manticore-branded KH-2002 camo
- Littlebird helicopter ‘Taxi’ camo
- Supporter icon on the scoreboard — can be hidden in settings
- Grenade bobblehead and helmet bobblehead
The $49.99 that is circulating is probably this
A pricing ladder is widely repeated — $39.99 now, $49.99 during the first year, $59.99 at 1.0 — attributed to a devlog video. We cannot find either later figure in any official text. What we can find is a $49.99 edition sitting on the same store page, which is a very easy thing to misread as a future price. We are not claiming that is what happened; we are pointing out that the number has an innocent explanation nobody checked, and that no official text supports it as a price step.
The price will rise, and that part is confirmed
Separately from any figure: Steam requires every Early Access developer to answer a fixed pricing question, and BULKHEAD’s answer is “Yes, we plan for WARDOGS to be priced lower during Early Access.” So a rise is confirmed in writing by the developer. When, and by how much, is not.
The monetisation promise, verbatim
The Supporter Pack listing carries a three-point commitment which is unusually specific for a game that has not shipped, and worth quoting exactly rather than summarising. BULKHEAD writes: “There will be no monetization on WARDOGS during Early Access with the sole exception of this optional supporter edition.” It then adds, numbered: “1. We will NOT monetize the game at any point during Early Access. 2. We will NEVER monetize in-game cash or gold bars, they must be earned through play. 3. We will NEVER allow you to directly purchase camos.” On that last one it gives its reason — camos should show that a player has worked hard to unlock an item, not how much money they have.
Two things that promise quietly tells you
Read closely, point 2 confirms a game system that appears nowhere in the store description: gold bars exist, alongside cash, and both are earned. Nothing else published explains what a gold bar is for. And point 3 confirms camos are an unlockable progression reward rather than a shop item — which is a design commitment, not a price.
Refunds
BULKHEAD’s pre-order announcement says it directly: “we encourage you to try out the game and refund if the game doesn’t live up to your expectations.” Steam’s standard refund window applies.
Common questions
Is the Supporter Edition worth it?
It adds cosmetics and nothing else — three weapon camos, a helicopter camo, a scoreboard icon and two bobbleheads. It buys no gameplay advantage. Whether $10 of cosmetics is worth it is your call, and BULKHEAD frames it as supporting development rather than as value.
Will WARDOGS be free to play?
No. It is a paid game, and BULKHEAD has stated in writing that the price rises after Early Access.
Is there a battle pass or in-game shop?
BULKHEAD says there will be no monetisation during Early Access at all, with the Supporter Edition as the sole exception, and that it will never sell camos or in-game currency.
Where does the $49.99 price-rise claim come from?
No official text we can find. A $49.99 edition does exist on the store page today, which is an easy thing to mistake for a future price.
