THE QUICK ANSWER

The frag grenade ($200) and IED ($300) need no unlock. C4 ($250 a charge) needs a Remote Detonator ($550, Support level 2), and one detonator fires every charge you have placed. The AT Mine ($650, Support 25) triggers only for vehicles; the Claymore ($900, Recon 22) is motion-triggered. In the game files one IED destroys a FOB, where C4 takes five. Smoke and coloured signal grenades complete the list, and Season 02 adds a Molotov.

Price is per life; the unlock is the role level and one-time payment where the files record one. The quoted text is the game’s own description.

What it takes to destroy a FOB and other buildables

The game files record each explosive’s damage per hit against every buildable. A selection, as the number of hits to destroy it:

C4 and the detonator: one switch fires them all

Unverified

C4 is bought by the charge, and the Remote Detonator is a separate purchase that fires them — players pointed out on 26 September that the detonator comes with one charge. Hold the detonator to throw or place a charge, then press to fire. A player found on 8 October that any detonator you carry sets off every charge you have placed, and that a teammate who picks up your detonator after you die cannot fire your charges. Since Update 0.1.2 on 30 September, grenades, smoke and C4 can no longer be used from enclosed vehicle seats.

Mines and claymores

Unverified

The AT Mine ignores infantry entirely — the files say it is pressure triggered by vehicles only — and its 8.6 kg is a real cost in a loadout. The Claymore is motion triggered by infantry and vehicles, but it is a weak demolition tool: 150 damage per hit against buildables. Players are not sure it is reliable: one asked on 8 October whether claymores work at all, after never seeing one detonate, and another the same day reported teammates deliberately walking into their claymores to bait a team-kill penalty.

Smoke and signal grenades

Unverified

White and black M18 smoke are the tactical screens, unlocked through the Medic track. The six coloured M18 signal grenades are a communication tool: each puts a column of coloured smoke in the world and a marker on the map — purple for a landing zone, green for a supply request, yellow for an alert, orange for a damaged vehicle, blue for friendly, red for hostile. Players on the Steam board in early October say few people buy them at $50 a slot.

Season 02 adds the Molotov

Publisher stated

BULKHEAD’s Season 02 preview of 9 October: “A thrown incendiary that splashes fire on impact and damages anyone caught in its radius. Throw overarm or underarm.” It is meant for damage and area denial — clearing buildings, per the site’s notes on BULKHEAD’s 9 October press conference, and deliberately poor against vehicles. Price and unlock are not yet published. Season 02 releases on 15 October.

Common questions

How do you use C4 in WARDOGS?

Buy C4 charges and a Remote Detonator ($550, Support level 2). Hold the detonator to throw or place a charge, then press it to detonate. One detonator fires every charge you have placed.

How many C4 does it take to destroy a FOB in WARDOGS?

Five, according to the game files. A single IED ($300, no unlock) destroys one outright.

Do AT mines kill infantry in WARDOGS?

No. The game files say the AT Mine is pressure triggered by vehicles only. The Claymore is the anti-infantry option.

How do you unlock smoke grenades in WARDOGS?

Through the Medic track: white smoke at Medic level 5 ($7,500) and black smoke at Medic 21 ($15,000), then $100 each per life.

What do the coloured smoke grenades do in WARDOGS?

They are signal grenades: coloured smoke plus a map marker — landing zone, supply request, alert, damaged vehicle, friendly or hostile. They cost $50 each.

Can you throw grenades from a vehicle in WARDOGS?

Not from enclosed seats. Update 0.1.2 on 30 September stopped grenades, smoke and C4 being used from enclosed vehicle seats.
