THE QUICK ANSWER

BULKHEAD answers this in Steam's mandatory Early Access FAQ: around 1 to 2 years in Early Access, a version that is "fully playable and represents the core vision", and a full release planned to be "broader and more polished".

How long Early Access runs

Publisher stated

"We expect WARDOGS to remain in Early Access for around 1 to 2 years." That is the developer's answer in full. It is an expectation with a range, not a commitment to a date, and BULKHEAD has been consistent that priorities may move.

What the Early Access build is

Publisher stated

"The Early Access version of WARDOGS is fully playable and represents the core vision of the game." This matters for expectation-setting: BULKHEAD is not describing a prototype or a technical test. It is describing the game, earlier.

How 1.0 is meant to differ

Publisher stated

"The full version of WARDOGS is planned to be broader and more polished than the Early Access release." Broader and more polished — not a list of features, and deliberately so.

There is no fixed content schedule

Unverified

BULKHEAD is widely reported to have said it will not publish a linear roadmap during Early Access, with effort going to bugs, balance and the metagame. The direction it has described publicly includes more maps, weapons and vehicles, deeper progression, seasonal systems, Player Skills, Challenges, and the Black Market and Vault. Those are design intent to be built during Early Access, not features waiting in the build.

How the community fits in

Publisher stated

"Community involvement is central to how WARDOGS is being built." In practice that has meant playtests run through the official community portal, an official Discord, and devlogs on the Steam news feed. All three are linked below.

Common questions

Is the Early Access version finished?

No, and BULKHEAD does not claim it is. It says the build is fully playable and represents the core vision, with the full version planned to be broader and more polished.

When is 1.0?

No date has been announced. The developer expects around 1 to 2 years in Early Access.

Will my progress carry over?

No official statement establishes carry-over or reset rules between Early Access and 1.0. We are not going to guess at it.
