FRIENDLY FIRE

What happens when you team kill in WARDOGS

Friendly fire and team kills in WARDOGS: the cash it costs, the automatic suspensions players report, team looting, and how to deal with griefers.

THE QUICK ANSWER

Friendly fire is on, and a team kill costs you. A fan extraction of the game files says it takes three times what the kill would have paid, and players report short automatic suspensions — one of 10 minutes after killing the same teammate four times. BULKHEAD has not published its team-kill rule. Looting a downed teammate is possible and not banned; report deliberate griefing instead of shooting back.

Friendly fire is on, and it costs cash

Unverified

You can kill your own team, and the game charges you for it. The wardogs.zone Field Manual, written from the game files, puts it plainly: “A teamkill costs you three times what the kill would have paid,” and “Wrecking your own faction’s structures and vehicles costs too.” Its kill values — $300 a kill before the Control Zone and Hot Zone multipliers — mean one team kill in the Hot Zone can erase several good kills. The chapter is dated 7 September, before launch, and BULKHEAD has not published the rule, so treat the multiplier as the files’ value then, not a confirmed current one.

Crashes count: the pilot who paid for his passengers

Unverified

The penalty follows whoever the game credits with the kill, not who meant it. On 10 October a pilot reported that a passenger shot him while he was flying a full Lakota into the zone; the helicopter crashed, everyone aboard died, and he lost the helicopter and about $7,000 for “killing” his own passengers. The same logic sits behind the mortar case below. If you fly or drive a full vehicle, the people aboard are riding on your wallet.

Automatic suspensions players report

Unverified

BULKHEAD’s Enforcement page lists temporary suspensions and per-server restrictions in general terms, but nothing about team kills specifically. Players describe a short automatic penalty:

  • 6 October: a player whose kit was looted killed the looter four times in a row and was “banned for 10 minutes”.
  • 6 October: a player was suspended “for team killing” after a teammate kept standing in front of their mortar and died to it.
  • 5 October, the other way: a player was killed seven times in a row by teammates reviving and killing them again, “with zero consequences”.

Team looting is allowed — and the biggest source of team kills

Unverified

A downed teammate can be looted before they bleed out, and BULKHEAD’s published rules do not mention it. That is where most of the anger on the Steam board comes from: players report being stripped while down and then revived “with nothing on your body” (9 October), and looters say they get team-killed for it (7 October). Shooting the looter is what got the 6 October player suspended. The fan manual also notes that if their team revives a player you downed, your kill keeps one percent of its value — so standing next to a downed teammate is worth more than taking their kit.

What to do about a griefer instead

Publisher stated

Report them. BULKHEAD’s Safety page says reports go to its own team with recent text chat attached, and its Enforcement page that a pattern of reports against one player is evidence in its own right; give the server name and the time. On a community server, admins can kick or ban on the spot. Crate griefing in spawn — teammates destroying supply crates, reported again on 8 October — is the same: the game lets you do it, the fan manual says wrecking your own faction’s structures and vehicles costs cash without saying whether a crate counts, and the report tool is the route BULKHEAD gives.

Common questions

Is there friendly fire in WARDOGS?

Yes. You can kill teammates and destroy your own faction’s structures and vehicles, and both cost you cash.

What is the team kill penalty in WARDOGS?

BULKHEAD has not published it. A fan extraction of the game files, dated before launch, says a team kill costs three times what the kill would have paid, and players report short automatic suspensions.

Can you get banned for team killing in WARDOGS?

Players report temporary suspensions — one of 10 minutes after four team kills in a row, another after a teammate walked into their mortar fire. No official rule has been published.

Can teammates loot you in WARDOGS?

Yes, while you are down. It is not against BULKHEAD’s published rules. Report it if it is deliberate griefing; team-killing the looter can get you suspended.

Do you lose money if passengers die when your helicopter crashes?

One pilot reports losing about $7,000 on 10 October after a passenger shot him and the full helicopter crashed, which suggests the deaths are counted as his team kills.

BULKHEAD’s 33 Steam announcements and its Player Safety and Enforcement pages, re-read on 10 October 2026, contain no team-kill rule. The cash figure is from wardogs.zone’s Field Manual economy chapter, dated 7 September 2026 — before launch. Everything else is players’ accounts on the Steam board, 5–10 October, none confirmed by BULKHEAD.
