THE QUICK ANSWER

There is no fixed schedule, but four of the five maintenance windows BULKHEAD has scheduled since launch began at 08:00 UTC; the fifth, on 25 September, at 11:00 UTC. Most were estimated at about an hour; Season 02’s was 1.5 hours and ran to 10:00 UTC. Each was announced separately, from 29 minutes to 33 hours ahead, on Steam News or the WARDOGS Updates account on X. The table below converts every start to your time zone.

The record so far: 08:00 UTC, about an hour

Publisher stated

Since Early Access began, BULKHEAD has scheduled five maintenance windows, and four started at 08:00 UTC. That is a pattern in the record, not a promise: no post commits to a fixed day or hour, and the one exception came at 11:00 UTC with half an hour’s notice. Estimates were about an hour each time except Season 02, which BULKHEAD planned at 1.5 hours.

How far ahead BULKHEAD announces it

Publisher stated

Notice has ranged from half an hour to a day and a half. Patch 0.11 was announced at 22:26 UTC on 12 September for 08:00 on the 14th — 33 hours ahead. The Season 02 patch notes went up at 14:59 UTC the afternoon before, 17 hours ahead. The 2 October hotfix was posted at 00:13 UTC, nearly eight hours ahead. Update 0.1.2’s notes and its 08:00 window arrived together at 06:57 UTC, an hour before. The 25 September security maintenance was announced only on WARDOGS Updates, at 10:31 UTC, 29 minutes ahead. A patch can therefore go from unannounced to offline inside an hour.

When maintenance runs long

Publisher stated

Season 02 is the one window that visibly overran. Maintenance began at 08:00:02 UTC on 15 October; at 09:39 UTC, nine minutes past the scheduled finish, @WARDOGS extended it without a new estimate; at 10:00:10 UTC WARDOGS Updates said Season 02 was live and services were back. On 2 October no start or recovery post appeared at all, which says nothing either way about the servers. After Update 0.1.2, BULKHEAD told players to close the game and update to the latest client before joining — the usual reason a game that worked before maintenance will not connect after it.

Changes that needed no downtime

Publisher stated

Not every update takes the servers down. BULKHEAD’s IR Goggles & CIWS balance hotfix, posted at 15:39 UTC on 2 October, said regional servers would restart within 12 hours and required no client download or server downtime. Incidents are also outside the table: an incorrect Steam build on the morning of 24 September and a network disruption outside the EU that evening were unscheduled, and are recorded on the launch-status page.

How to know when the next one is

Publisher stated

Every window so far was announced in at least one of three places: the Steam News feed for WARDOGS, the @WARDOGS account on X, and WARDOGS Updates, the service account on X. Only WARDOGS Updates carried the 25 September window, so it is the one to follow if you want the shortest-notice posts. When this page was checked on 17 October 2026, no new window had been scheduled.

What is not established

Unverified

No BULKHEAD post publishes the following:

  • A fixed day or hour for updates. 08:00 UTC is what four windows used, not a commitment.
  • Why that hour was chosen.
  • Whether regions come back at the same moment. Recovery posts are global; on 15 October BULKHEAD said servers would restart across regions.
  • When the next update or Season 03 maintenance will be.

Common questions

What time does the WARDOGS update come out?

There is no fixed time, but four of the five scheduled maintenance windows since launch started at 08:00 UTC. Season 02 went live at 10:00 UTC on 15 October, after maintenance from 08:00 overran its 09:30 estimate.

What time is WARDOGS maintenance?

Usually 08:00 UTC so far — 30 September, 2 October, 15 October and Patch 0.11 on 14 September all started then. The 25 September security maintenance started at 11:00 UTC.

How long does WARDOGS maintenance take?

BULKHEAD estimated about an hour for every window except Season 02, which it planned at 1.5 hours. Recovery posts came 42 minutes to 2 hours after the scheduled start.

When is the next WARDOGS update?

Not announced when this page was checked on 17 October 2026. Past windows were announced between 29 minutes and 33 hours ahead, on Steam News, @WARDOGS or WARDOGS Updates.

Do I need to update WARDOGS after maintenance?

After a client patch, yes. Following Update 0.1.2, BULKHEAD told players to close the game and update to the latest version before joining servers.
