ERROR CODES
WARDOGS error codes
Fourteen WARDOGS error strings have dated public reports that can be linked. Each has a page here giving the exact string, the day it was first reported, where in the boot sequence it fails, and what is not established about it. Update 0.1.2 says the recent KB5124010-linked WD-L020 crash is fixed; older reports are not retroactively diagnosed.
- WARDOGS error WD-L014
Unable to launch WARDOGS. Error code: WD-L014-8725400ca4fe
The launch-day code, and why the hex on the end is not part of it.
- WARDOGS 0xc0000142 at anti-cheat startup
The application was unable to start correctly (0xc0000142)
A closed-beta report names Easy Anti-Cheat; the current official terms rule it out.
- “Failed to authenticate with online services”
Failed to authenticate with online services
The login family: three numbers, two stages, one of them single-sourced.
- The WARDOGS launch queue, in the studio's own words
You are in the queue to join WARDOGS
The one failure the studio explained itself — and the answer to whether it was your fault.
- WARDOGS error 1147405316
Server queue is full
Quoted once, on launch day, against a server that was not full.
- WARDOGS error 1413677057
An unexpected error has occured.
The only string here whose thread title is the error itself, typo included.
- WARDOGS error 1628505091
The timeout period has expired.
The most-reported string here, and nobody agrees what it says.
- The WD-L launcher codes Team17 named
Unable to launch WARDOGS. Error code: WD-L004
Six codes, one developer post, and a workaround list that is not a diagnosis.
- “Missing game executable”
Missing game executable
The one error string with three separate dated causes, two of them named by Team17.
- “Anti-Cheat Login Failed” — 1628505086 and 1628505088
Anti-Cheat Login Failed
Two codes, one message, and the players treat them as one failure.
- WARDOGS error 1628505084
Game Data Unavailable
The dialog with the Retry button, first reported on launch day.
- Is WARDOGS WD-L020 fixed?
WD-L020 Crash Error
Update 0.1.2 ships the KB5124010-linked fix; older WD-L020 reports keep their boundary.
- “KICKED: no valid heartbeat within window.”
KICKED: no valid heartbeat within window.
The kick message that ends a match in progress, and the one step Team17 suggested for it.
- “Outdated Graphics Driver”: below the minimum supported version
Outdated Graphics Driver
The launch warning that names a minimum driver some cards cannot install, and Team17's steps for it.
- “Your connection could not be verified so your session has been terminated.”
Your connection could not be verified so your session has been terminated.
The mid-match kick that says your cash and XP were saved, and the day it hit dozens of players.
What is deliberately not here
A numbered fix list for a failure nobody has diagnosed. Nine of the fourteen strings below have no published cause, and a sequence of steps presented as a remedy for an undiagnosed fault is a guess with a number in front of it. Several pages currently ranking for these codes do print such lists, and some of them are published by companies whose own product is step one.
Three pages here do carry a numbered list, and the exception is the rule working rather than bending: Team17 published every list itself — on 12 September 2026, naming six WD-L launcher codes in one post, and on 10 September 2026, answering a “Missing game executable” thread on the same board. On 23 September it published a third, code-specific list for WD-L020 and Windows update KB5124010, with an explicit warning that rollback is optional and at the player’s own risk. It is reproduced as the publisher’s own, labelled the way Team17 labelled it — potential workarounds that may not resolve the issue, with the underlying causes still under investigation — and it is still not a diagnosis. The bar was never “no steps”. It was “no steps this site made up.”
Also not here: the strings with no public report to link. The error cluster is the highest-intent search on this game and the cheapest place to be wrong, so a string earns a page when it has a dated, linkable source and not before.
Why are there only fourteen error pages here?
Because fourteen WARDOGS error strings have dated public reports that can be linked. A page for a string with nothing behind it would have to invent a cause or a fix, which is the one thing this site does not do.
Has BULKHEAD published a list of WARDOGS error codes?
No complete list. Team17 named six WD-L launcher codes on 12 September, and BULKHEAD published a code-specific WD-L020 investigation on 23 September. The remaining strings here come from dated reports rather than an official catalogue.
My error is not listed. What now?
Start at the connection guide, which covers the failure by symptom rather than by string. If you have a dated public thread for a string that is not here, send it — a page costs one entry once the evidence exists.
What are the yellow and orange symbols in the top right of the WARDOGS HUD?
They are network-status indicators, not error codes. BULKHEAD's official 22 September legend names six: Server Performance, Packet Loss, High Ping, Connection Stalled, Ping Instability and Saturated Bandwidth. The studio says the icons mean a network-performance issue was detected, but publishes no numeric trigger thresholds or colour scale. The dedicated network-symbols page carries the complete official image.
By symptom rather than by string: why WARDOGS will not launch or connect. For which anti-cheat the game actually ships, see the anti-cheat page; for whether the problem is the servers, server status.
If the game closes or the machine locks up with no dialog and no number at all, that is not an error string and it is not on this page: what has been fixed about WARDOGS crashing.
And if there is no dialog at all — just icons lit in the top-right corner while you keep playing — those are not error codes either: what the WARDOGS network symbols in the top right mean.
